5th generation carpet that is produced today, comes from the mill with the Stain Protection already applied. However, the protection walks off  in the high traffic areas and is rinsed out during the cleaning process. For this reason, the carpet manufacturers suggest that you have your carpet professionally cleaned every 12 - 15 months and have the Stain Protection re-applied.

Benefits:

• Stain Protection seals the carpet fibers so that dry particle soil does not bond to the fiber and releases soil easier during vacuuming.
• Stain Protection gives you more dwell time to wipe up those occasional spills.
• Extends the life of your carpet when you clean and re-apply on an annual basis.
• Spots are more likely to rinse out during the next cleaning.

Drawbacks:

• Adds slightly additional dry time.
• Can be Slippery when walking from damp carpet to hard floor surfaces until it dries.
